Vivo Depot- Choices for Sustainable Living

vivo Congratulates Rainwater HOG as Top Ten Recipient at GreenBuild

vivo was present in Boston this week at the US Green Building Council's GreenBuild Conference for the announcement by Building Green, the publisher of the GreenSpec
® Directory and Environmental Bulding News, of its Top 10 Green Building Products for 2008.  HOG_photo.gif

The award presentation recognized Rainwater HOG's Rainwater Rescue and Storage Solution, a water conservation and stormwater management solution provided by vivo.

Rainwater HOG LLC won the award for dedicating development, time, money and resources in support of a commitment to environmental responsibility.

"Our selections of the Top-10 Green Building Products represent a wide range of product types in many different application areas," noted BuildingGreen president Alex Wilson. "Water saving products are represented by a line of rainwater storage tanks- the first rainwater storage equipment ever recognized in our Top 10 lists."

BuildingGreen's Top 10 product selections, as in previous years, are drawn from new additions to the company's GreenSpec product directory. More than 200 product listings have been added to the  company's GreenSpec database during the past year. "New products seem to be appearing all the time, making it a challenge for our staff to keep up," said Wilson. The GreenSpec database the company maintains now includes more than 2,000 product listings.

HOGarazzi

The HOGarazzi were once again relentless, snorting out every last Rainwater HOG who's found fame and fortune. Here are stories of the latest HOG sightings captured both on and off the red carpet.

Opening December 11, 2008 at the Museum of the City of New York, the Rainwater HOG is on display as a sustainable solution for the effective stormwater harvesting of the paved streets of New York City.  The Rainwater HOG is on display as part of the "Growing and Greening New York" exhibit which highlights various components of the city's comprehensive PlaNYC 2030, a five-borough wide initiative spanning 100 city departments for purpose of effecting a great transformation, and to ensure NYC becomes a cleaner, greener, more responsible, and more robust livable city by 2030 for the 9 million residents who will call it home.

Other HOG Sightings

The Rainwater HOG has been available in the US for less than a year and has already found its way into the peronal home of David Gottfried, the founder and first staff president of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the featured options of the kithaus, and the blog of Michelle Kauffman, to name a few of the HOGs more prominent endorsements from discerning sustainability advocates for the built environment.

Finally, and we don't know how the HOGarazzi tracked this HOG down, but Rainwater HOG is working with GreenPeace in the UK too; more to follow.
