 What is it and why is it so great?
kama Energy Efficient Building Systems (kama-EEBs) custom prefabricates structurally insulated walls, floors and roof panels for a complete high performance building system. Our proprietary building system combines metal stud framing with advanced expanded polystyrene (EPS) to harness the positive aspects of metal framing -strength, durability, recycled content, and recyclability to name a few, while eliminating the negatives of thermal conductivity and sound bridging found in other metal framing systems.  By embedding the kama metal studs into the EPS, bridging is eliminated and an airtight building envelope of maximum thermal performance is produced.  In addition to kama-EEBS’ environmentally preferable characteristics and high performance, it is without design or build limitations resulting in great versatility for architects.  Curved walls have never been easier or more material efficient.  Kama-EEBS structures are affordable when compared to conventional building techniques, in particular due to the reduction in assembly time and call-backs and the predictability and adherence to project scheduling provided by indoor fabrication.  Benefits accrue well beyond the design and construction budget through energy savings, a reduction in the contributory costs of the built environment to global warming, and the qualitative attributes of healthy buildings.

Kama-EEBS panels are an eco-efficient building material - use recycled galvanized steel and material efficient EPS resulting in a light-weight product (environmentally preferable for transportation) with minimal construction waste off-site (none on-site), minimal site disturbance (no heavy equipment needed), and recyclability of all components in the event of deconstruction.  The EPS used has undergone the rigorous third party C2C chemicals and materials assessment of respected firm, MBDC which determined that the EPS “is suited for circulating in a cradle-to-cradle life cycle as a technical nutrient”.

No other building product on the market today has all of the benefits of kama-EEBS.  With unlimited versatility our product has no design and build limitations.   And, we have eliminated the negatives of other prefabricated building systems such as Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), also known as sandwiched or stress-skin panels which use OSB/wood skins (thereby supporting mold, mildew, moisture, fire and warping), and requiring a crane for installation.  Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) which are built on-site by pouring concrete, the highest embodied energy material in the world; alternatively, kama-EEBS uses steel, the most recycled material.  Due to in-house fabrication designed to your specifications, in addition to speeding on-site assembly and reducing construction time, our product does not contribute to construction site waste and all post-industrial waste is recirculated back into the manufacturing loop through material take-back programs with our EPS and steel suppliers.
